President John Dramani Mahama has announced that an estimated $1.7 billion is required to complete the unfinished Agenda 111 projects initiated by the previous government.
According to President Mahama, nearly 90 of the 111 hospitals launched under the Agenda 111 project remain uncompleted, with some commissioned hospitals lacking even basic equipment such as beds.
The President made this revelation during a meeting with the Christian Council, where he proposed a collaborative approach with religious bodies to help complete the delayed projects.
“We are not looking to compete with existing mission hospitals, but rather to provide resources to improve these facilities and enable them to provide better services,” President Mahama explained.
He further suggested that interested missions could take on the responsibility of completing some of the hospitals and managing them.
President Mahama assured that the government is committed to completing all the Agenda 111 projects to meet the healthcare needs of Ghanaians.
The Agenda 111 project aims to expand Ghana’s healthcare infrastructure, particularly in underserved and rural areas. The government’s renewed commitment to completing these projects is expected to improve access to quality healthcare services for Ghanaians.
