The people of Sunson and surrounding communities in the Yendi Municipality of Ghana’s Northern Region have received a major boost in healthcare delivery.
Member of Parliament (MP) for Yendi, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, inaugurated a GH¢800,000 health centre, fulfilling a promise made during his 2020 election campaign.
The facility boasts impressive infrastructure, including a 12-bed capacity, delivery room, records and outpatient department (OPD), pharmacy, children’s ward, male and female wards, offices for staff and a computer room.
Alhaji Mahama, who solely funded the project, aims to improve healthcare quality and accessibility.
This health centre is his fifth in the municipality, reducing reliance on external facilities.
During the inauguration, Alhaji Mahama emphasized his commitment to universal healthcare coverage.
“Today, I have fulfilled your request as your MP for the area,” he stated, highlighting investments in medical equipment, medicines and health accessories.
To support healthcare workers, Alhaji Mahama broke ground for a four-bedroom accommodation facility, slated for completion within six months.
Yendi Municipal Health Director, Ms. Joana Quarcoo, praised Alhaji Mahama’s contributions, citing relief for the pressured Yendi Government Hospital.
Tuzei Naa Neidow, the local chief, expressed gratitude for the facility.
Alhaji Mahama urged community members and facility managers to maintain the centre, ensuring quality healthcare for generations to come.
